I cannot delete a Location Bar Autocomplete entry
When attempting to follow the steps for removing an item from the Location Bar autocomplete list, as shown here:
I run into an interesting problem - the entry does not appear in the drop-down box, so I can't scroll to it, much less delete it.
Here is the specific case. My university has a mail server at mail.<ermergerd!>.edu. Up until yesterday, typing 'm' or 'ma' or... you get the idea... would autocomplete to that address. Randomly, today, it decided to default to 'mail.google.com'. Which sucks, since I am in the habit of just typing 'm' and 'enter'. It's especially annoying because I'm pretty sure I never actually visited (by typing into the address bar, at least) 'mail.google.com' because 'gmail.com' is much less to type. It isn't bookmarked, and it does not appear in my history.
Completely clearing my history isn't really an option in this case. It doesn't matter why. If the absolute answer is 'completely clear your history', I will learn to live with it. But I find it hard to believe that there isn't another solution.
I have screenshot proof, but apparently cannot include it. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't help, because all it shows is that 'mail.google.com' has been autocompleted, that 'mail.<homeworkislate>.edu' is the first suggestion on the list, and that 'mail.google.com' is nowhere to be found.

I see you have the addons Gmail Manager & Greasemonkey installed. Did you install either of them recently? One of them may be the cause. My money is on Gmail manager. In Greasemonkey's case, maybe you added a userscript that somehow adds mail.google.com to the address bar? You could try disabling Gmail Manager addon first then restart Firefox and see if the mail.google.com is gone. If not, disable Greasemonkey next, restart Firefox and check again. It could be another one of your addons like google-no-tracking-url though I doubt that one is responsible. But you never know. You could also test with all addons disabled.
To disable all your addons:
Firefox button > Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
(or Help > Restart with Add-ons disabled)

The site might be in the list with typed (or pasted) entries that opens if you click the arrow at the far right end of the location bar.
Do you see that site in the History (sidebar via Ctrl+H or Library)?

It seems to have been Gmail Manager that did it... It isn't greasemonkey, it's usually inactive, and I do not have any scripts loaded at the moment. Gmail manager has an unusual way of conecting to gmail, that seems to be causing the issue. I uninstalled, and it seems to be working as expected, now.
Thanks! I never would of thought of that myself.
