cannot disable password saving feature. the option is grayed out. i use norton to manage my passwords and don't want to use the firefox feature. every time i open firefox it asks me to disable the feature, i click the yes option; nothing changes, it still asks to remember passwords. along with this problem, all changes made to options reverts back to default when firefox is closed and reopened.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy: Use custom settings for history
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
