Reseting the pages that appear when you add a tab
So i am talking about the sites that appear in boxes when you press the open a tab button. 9 boxes with the 9 most popular sites you visit. I am not sure how exactly that is called so i couldnt find the answer through google.
Is there anyway to reset only that? I could reset the entire profile but i dont want to lose passwords/preferences etc

Not sure what you mean by "reset" the new tab page. The 9 items displayed on the New Tab Page are automatically determined by the history that you keep in Firefox.
You can add, delete, pin sites on that page. Does any of the following help?
You can also try this add-on:

Yes sorry i wasnt clear enough When you remove a site from there it no longer appears, in the past i have deleted so many that no new would appear because they were once deleted. I had to reset the profile to make it start showing pages again there.
Now after using cc cleaner i must have deleted something including history. But now no matter at what page i go and even though it is recorded i the history no new site appears in those 9 boxes.
Is there a way to reset it so it can start showing sites in those 9 boxes again?
Open a new tab, write the website about:config, cick yes, write browser.newtab.url, doubleclick in browser.newtab.url, write about:newtab If you don' t resolve write the problems.
I' m Italian, i don' t know very good English, sorry for the errors
tried that but the value was already about:newtab
is there anyway to use the profile reset option but keeping the passwords/preferances/history/bookmarks intact?
In the new tab, what is the site that is there?
Sorry I don' t know good english
Read the following thread in full.
To open your profile folder - Firefox button > Help (or Help on the menu bar) > Troubleshooting information, then click Show Folder (to the right of Profile Folder). Then close Firefox while deleting or renaming chromeappsstore.sqlite in your profile folder.
You may also need to refer to the following if resetting browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone in about:config is necessary.

(If you select the new tab button)
See this article about the New Tab page (about:newtab):
You can change the order of the boxes on the about:newtab page and drag an item to a different slot to pin it to that position or you can remove a website by clicking the close X to block that URL.
You can drag a bookmark or history item and drop them in a slot on the about:newtab page to pin them and have your own favorites sites showing.
Changes made manually on the about:newtab page are stored in the browser.newtabpage.pinned (default = [null]) and browser.newtabpage.blocked prefs that you can check/modify on the about:config page (Bug 791447).
