Shockwave flash won't update
Trying to update Adobe Shockwave Flash - Went to the Mozilla plugin page, download install_flashplayer11x32_mssd_aaa_aih.exe but it keeps failing to install - get "Unable to load application configuration" error.
All help appreciated, thanks.

None of the above helped. I found the utility to uninstall Shockwave flash and just reinstalled it from scratch.

Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the Mozilla Plugin Check site.
Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions. If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow Update button or a red Update now button, please update these immediately.
To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.
- Does your System meet the min system requirements, apparently a 2.33GHz processor will be required
- Have you checked this is the correct download, and that it is for Firefox
- Have you tried downloading from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
- Ensure security software is not blocking install or download
- You almost certainly will need to use an Admin account not a limited account on XP
- Close all applications whilst you attempt the install
Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the Mozilla Plugin Check site.
The Mozilla check plugin site is where I got the update from and led to the issue described above.
Hello Muzician, be sure that, as John99 said in his reply, Close all applications whilst you attempt the install , close firefox before install flash.
thank you

Glad it is working. Thanks for posting back.
Presumably it was the official uninstaller that you used
If I remember correctly that has the side effect of uninstalling the Internet Explorer version at the same time, so you may now wish to check IE and if necessary reinstall Flashplayer on that.
I have marked your last post as solving the thread.
Adobe flush won't install without Mccafee. If you don't check the box of Mccafee, it doesn't work properly
daph,
I think you are mistaken.
There is no need to download or use McAfee software to use Flash Player.
I find it quite poor that my older working versions of Flash and acdobe are blocked and I am forced to update them. Then when I do I get a "general install failure"
I moved away from IE years ago to get away from all the BS of websites not loading properly I am finding more and more Mozilla is problematic.
Just as a polite suggestion How about stop force blocking add-ons and allow people to update when they are ready!!!
If I un-install flash now completely it will no doubt stuff up IE settings which do work still.
