I don't remember the exact timing of the update but Firefox now has a spell checker built into it.

Is it posible to turn this off? It is a huge annoyance in the manner that we are using it. Or do we just have to stick with an old and outdated browser?

Go to Firefox > Options > Advanced > General > uncheck => Check my spelling as I type

Try to set the layout.spellcheckDefault pref to 0 on the about:config page.

I don't know if the mobile version supports this pref, so you have to check that out.
