Does the site use a secure connection (HTTPS URL)? Starting in Firefox 23, Firefox blocks some insecure (HTTP) embedded content in secure pages. In that case, a "shield" icon will appear to the left of the URL on the address bar. This article describes the feature in more detail: Mixed content blocking in Firefox
