I want to view a .kmz file and installed the Google Earth plugin but it doesn't work

more options

I understand that Google Earth will display .kmz files. When I went to Google to get the program, there was an option for just getting the plugin. I installed it and it shows to be active in Firefox. When I try to open the .kmz file on my hard drive, Windows 7 asks me what program to use to open it - Firefox is not listed as one of them. Therefore, I browsed for Firefox and Windows then listed it. Now when I double click on the .kmz file, Firefox opens a tab but the screen is blank. Is there something I haven't done to link the Google Earth plugin to .kmz files?

Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the Mozilla Plugin Check site.

Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions. If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow Update button or a red Update now button, please update these immediately.

To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.
