When entering my password at various websites (i.e., TaxAct, YouTube, Google Maps, etc.), I keep getting errors. I read to change the settings to: Options, Privacy, Accept third party cookies from sites: Always, Until they expire. I have done this, but the error persists.

I then went in and entered the exception to allow 3rd party tracking for these sites, but that did not work.

I then read to go in and delete all cookies, history, etc. which does work, however, I am left with the huge annoyance of losing all my history, passwords, etc.

I don't necessarily want sites "tracking me, however, I don't want to keep losing the history, password, etc. I did not have this issue with Internet Explorer, only since switching to Firefox.

I appreciate your help. Thank you.

There is usually no need to enable (all) third-party cookies, if you need them then it is usually sufficient to allow third-party cookies from visited website.

What kind of error message do you get?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

You can inspect and manage the permissions for all domains on the about:permissions page or for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:

  • Click the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location bar
  • Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
  • Go to the Permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab

Delete the permissions.sqlite file to reset all permissions.
