Whenever a page fully loads, i try to scroll down it, and then the page locks up and the scroll bars disappear about half way down. then it wont let me scroll up or down. I tried changing the zoom, and resetting the display settings as well, with no change. I have also exhausted the resources of questions already answered. Please help ASAP! Thanks!

Does this problem affect all sites, or mainly sites that dynamically load additional content as you scroll down (e.g., Facebook, Google image search)?

During the time that the scroll bars are not visible, do either of these scrolling methods work?

  • Mouse wheel forward or back?
  • Click the mouse wheel to start auto-scrolling, then move the cursor above or below the auto-scrolling icon?

Yes, the problem occurs mainly on facebook. I also tried the methods you suggested as well. Nothing seems to help.....

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
