Lockwise is the new password management system that Firefox uses. It has replaced the previous builtin login management system.

Lockwise provides a lot more features. You can still view, edit, remove and add passwords to the Lockwise system. When you open Lockwise, your accounts are listed on the left side. If you click and account, it will list the website, username and password. If you click the eye next to the password, you can see the password. Your other computers likely aren't running the latest version of Firefox, which is probably why they are still running the old version of the login management system.

I hate the look. The list starts off with a bunch of ip-ish address like this... 0e405253-433e-4722-ba71-018... It doesn't occur to one to scroll down to see the actual logons.

Hi Joe, at least one of those codes (GUIDs) could be for your Firefox Account. I don't know why you would have a lot of them, though. ??

If you are using an extension that requires you to login, it's possible that the codes you are referring to could be extension ID values. The other IP ones could be things like your router settings page. Since they are sorted alphabetically (with numbers starting first), they will all appear at the top of the list.

It's really tedious to have it layed out this way. Can we have the option to have it spreadsheet style and sortable by email address and password?

I was in the middle of converting emails and passwords to stronger versions, and the sort options in this new design are less than useful when you have hundreds of logins and passwords.

Also, prior version let me see and screenshot the list so I could have it available offline when I travel. I don't want to log into other computers using firefox just to have it sync all my passwords and then have the potential to forget to log out and wipe the computer.

Note that for now you can revert to the legacy Password Manager by clearing the value of this pref on the about:config page.

A lot more features? Where is the ability to search by password? Or the ability to show all passwords at once? Sure, lockwise it's prettier, but the old password manager was much better at letting you manage your saved passwords.

In the past, if i was using the same weak password for lots of websites, i could just search for the password and see what websites were using it so i could change them. This is literally impossible now. I have to open every single entry and type the master password every single time i want to see a password. It's garbage.

Thanks Wesley..I agree..I have been on the internet since before there was an internet (modem pools) and have collected a vast amount of site/passwords..The Master Password has always suited my needs but I have received junk mail when some of the older, less secure sites were hacked from days gone by and password requirements were minimal..The solution was to search by password and change all those sites using it...Can't do this now...Awful..I am rolling back until they force it upon us....*sigh*

I agree. This new Lockwise tool is terribly designed. It might be a better system, but the presentation is less usable than the old, simpler tool, and that gets in the way of any effectiveness it may have.

It's worth noting that a couple of you have specifically mentioned the ability to search by password. That feature does work in Firefox Lockwise. If you enter a password in the search bar, the relevant account(s) is shown on the left sidebar.

Then if you want to change that password, you can select the account and press the edit button to change the password if you want or you can actually log into the website with your new password manually and tell Firefox to update the password.

That doesn't work at all. I type any known password i know and it says "No logins found / There are no results matching your search. ". Maybe it's because i have a master password, which forces me to type it EVERY TIME i want to see a single password, not just one time for all passwords like in the old password manager.

I have na older portable firefox version just for this now.

Searching for a password only works when you do not use a master password.

I posted a workaround in my above reply to revert for now to the legacy Password Manager by clearing the value of a pref on the about:config page.

I've filed a bug about the inability to search via passwords when you have Master Password enabled (see bug 1592050). Hopefully the developers can address the issue in newer updates.

Thanks for this. Agreed with the others that this is awful design. Just in case they force this upon us anyway, I'll find a portable older version and update what I can while this fix works.

@cor-el we know about that workaround.. the thing is that they may make lockwise the only PW manager in the future, removing the old one.

They should add those missing features to lockwise so that we don't need workarounds like this one and so that they can remove the old PW manager safely knowing that all features are there.

It's awful. It may have more features (how many do I need?) but it cannot do the simplest tthing: search If, for example, I want to check my yahoo password and type 'yahoo' into the search, it just sits and stares at me! Hopeless and definitely a regressive step.

Hi P-2, on the about:logins page, searching by the data you can see in the left column (site hostname and username) should work for everyone. It's progressive, so the list should be filtered after each character you type. Yours does nothing at all?
