I'm not sure I totally understand the problem you are having. Can you explain a little more.
This reply turned up in a new thread. I am posting the text here and closing that new thread.

thankyou for replying sorry I had to go out,the problem is is that I used to have a gentleman who helped me with my emails and the general running of my computer and website ,he has moved away and has left me a lot of info but I can not find the passwords etc to get on to my emails, for some reason I am unable to enter my desk top or any info, files etc other than the recycle bin,so I thought I could accsess the emails through the internet but I can not get on to retrieve them, I am trying to contact David to help but his numbers are on the emails so catch 22,any ideas?

If you cannot even get to the desktop of your computer no one here can help you with that. That is an operating system issue.
The above pretty much means this is not a Thunderbird issue since you cannot even get into your computer to start Thunderbird.
Most email providers have a web mail portal where you can go with an Internet browser and check your email. For example, if your are a gmail customer you would go to gmail.com and log into your email account there. You are going to have to know your email username and password. Thunderbird is not involved with this at all, so again no one here can help you with that.
