Keeps telling me I have an invalid username or password... I don't. Even when Win is started in safe mode with networking.

Tbird was working fine last night; this morning, it won't retrieve or send emails. Checked settings... all appears good. Contacted ISP (Fairpoint) and verified that all information is indeed correct... Tbird won't accept username/password. Uninstalled TBird and downloaded/installed latest version of TBird. Set up account with verified good information... still won't accept username/password. Restarted Win7 in safe-mode with networking, tried configuring TBird... still won't accept username/password. Finally downloaded/installed Pegasus Email and configured using verified good info... Pegasus retrieved all emails just fine. What's up with TBird? Any ideas gratefully accepted; my wife is driving me nuts to get this fixed!
