I have some historical e-mail messages saved in a .mbx file. How do I import into Thunderbird?

You could try this add-on:

It is capable of importing Thunderbird's own mailbox files. Thunderbird's mailstores use a variation of the mailbox file format, though they don't use the .mbx extension. Your files may be similar enough for this add-on to be able to parse them.
