Thanks to all the people who responded. I was aware of most of the comments before posting.
I was faced with a choice of not using bank recommended supplementary software or (unfortunately) using IE11.
However the influence of Mozilla extends to even IBM and Firefox 50 is now compatible with IBM Trusteer - problem not so much solved as gone away.
Once again keep up the good work - I'm a huge fan of all these products.

Install an older version of Firefox {web link} Look for the directory of the version that you want. But remember that old versions may have security issues.
Sorry you are having problems. Unfortunately problems with third party security software not updating in a timely manner is a common problem. You may by the way be interested in taking note of some of the default Firefox security features
- N.B. I am NOT suggesting turning of AV software that is considered essential by most people but note that Microsoft usually provides Free AV & Firewall software. (It is built in to consumer versions of Windows & 7 & 10 on initial install)
- How does built-in Phishing and Malware Protection work? That includes protection against malware and attack sites.
- How do I tell if my connection to a website is secure?
- Mixed content blocking in Firefox
It is usually much more important to keep Firefox up to date than to keep Trusteer up to date. Some Trusteer products have rather speculative value, adding little that Firefox does not do by default and tend to cause Firefox to crash or have other problems.
FIRST OFF please make sure your Trusteer software is fully updated, and contact Trusteer who will be bound to be aware they are causing problems with Firefox. Please let us know what reply you get or what support article or forum post they refer you to.
Trusteeer will going on past experience eventually catch up with Firefox. (If nothing has changed much after the IBM takeover)
Please say exactly what Trusteer softwave it is you are using.
- The full title of the software
- The version Number
- The download site
- The support site.
Without that information we are rather in the dark as to exactly what issues you face.
Obviously it is a proprietry brand name, & I understand the brand name is used on a number of products some of which are free consumer level utilities, but some of which are complex paid for enterprise security suites.
For those using outdated, unsafe & unsupported versions of Firefox I usually suggest to mitigate risks it may be worth considering running in VM &/Or having good well rehearsed bare metal recovery procedures.
Once Firefox updates, the fixes mad become public and the bad guys may then use the exploits to target those that have not updated:

Firefox version 50 is not currently supported.
The manner with which IBM chose to integrate Trusteer Rapport with Firefox makes it that their Rapport add-on for Firefox needs to be updated for every new version of Firefox. Looks IBM "dropped the ball" this time around with regards to their timing their development with the published (long in advance) schedule from Mozilla.
As Happy already posted - https://wiki.mozilla.org/RapidRelease/Calendar - the schedule is posted into 2018. - How to roll back to 49 in order for trusteer to work

So you will have to wait for a update from them.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause...
Firefox is not made to support the hundreds of extensions but the other way. - THe Trusteer Rapport icon stopped appearing in firefox today. Any ideas? Happy112
... Tried to get an answer from Trusteer Rapport if and when they will support Firefox again, to no avail, I'm afraid ...... (sorry !)
For anyone needing a Firefox install right away that is listed as supported by Trusteer See
If you do decide you need a separate browser for banking that works with Trusteer I am sure thy will support the third party Firefox Portable ESR. (It is listed as supported on https://www.trusteer.com/support/supported-platforms ) That is intended for Enterprise customers and built and supported by a third party website butNote Those with their own IT department in Enterprise or Educational establishments etc.. should possibly already be using the Mozillla Firefox ESR installs
- It will install easily on Windows
- Or may be run from a Memory stick on Windows
- Installs as a separate independent Firefox Browser
- Does have all critical security updates so it is safer than using Fx48 or Fx49 which are not now supported, and are not now to be considered secure and safe.
- Download & support LINK http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox-portable-esr
- See Mozilla Firefox ESR Overview https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/faq/
Comment by a moderator ~J99. Please take extreme care if you use choose to use Firefox 48 or 49. Please see my next post lower down.

I would NOT recommend downgrading to Firefox 48 or Firefox 49
As that is unsafe unless you take similar precautions to those that a technically aware user or Developer would take. You are free to use it if you wish but do not then complain about problems from using an unsafe unsupported browser. You do so entirely at your own risk, and could suffer data, or Identity theft.
You would be better and safer taking one of these options for your banking
- Using an alternative browser such as Internet Explorer (I.E.) for your Banking. ( IE is built in to Windows 7 )
- Use Firefox ESR portable, for banking. Trusteer Rapport supports that. The browser installs as a separate Firefox Browser for Windows, either on the Haed Disk Drive of your Computer, or even on to a Memory stick.
For your day to day browsing use Firefox 50 that is perfectly safe and secure. In fact I am not certain Trusteer Rapport software does anything to improve your security. Unless we know precisely which Trusteeer Rapport software and versions you are using it is hard to give you a definitive answer.

Thank you for letting us know ! Just so others won't go looking for a solution and know that this is no longer a problem: would you be a dear and mark your own last post as Chosen Solution ?
Oh boy; you inadvertently marked my post as Chosen Solution (by quoting it). Would you be a dear and rectify this and mark your last post as such ? I would do it for you in a heartbeat, but this something only you (or a moderator) can do .......

It was Trusteer that was updated to work with Firefox 50.0 on Windows. There were no updates to Firefox 50.0 and Firefox is not made to work with the hundreds of Extensions out there.
hi every one. today, i subscribed to firefox and created account. but unfortunately could not ask question and send it here. is it possible to ask in this topic? could you please help me for my issues? i am blind and use screen reader. for many reasons, i am not comfortable with the newer versions of firefox and prefer to keep firefox 48 and 49 for always and never update it! how can i activate always do not track in firefox 48 and before in regular browsing not only private brows mode? in firefox 42 and 43 i had the option request that sites not track you in firefox privacy setting and it was very easy for me. i did not try 44 until 48 versions. since which version exactly request that sites not track you is removed from firefox privacy settings? how can i return this feature in to firefox privacy settings before version 49 or at least activate it in any manner to use it? thanks again for your help all and God bless you
Hi zahra.a Thanks for posting. We will try to help you.
We could try to answer your question here, but it should be relatively easy for you to ask your own question and that is much better because
- More helpers will see the question and realise it is still needing attention.
- Forum software helps us collect more information about your problem.
- It helps anyone looking for answers if we keep a single question in each thread.
Could I suggest you try again to ask a question in your own thread.
- Please use this special clickable → LINK
- That link cuts out a few steps and gives your question a suitable title.
- You need to type out your full question in the text entry box under the word "Details"
- It will help if you then click on a green button underneath that box. The button is after the description "Troubleshooting Information" and is "Share Data" it collects non-personal data about the Firefox setup.
- There is then a Blue clickable button with white writing "Post Question"
- If you then come back to this question and confirm you have posted a question we will find your new question and try to give you a full answer that best suits your requirements. Your post in this topic about Trusteer Rapport has a clickable link (These links may change or break shortly we are migrating software but the links will be ok & work for quite a few days yet)
Trying to stay on an old version of Firefox may not be the best or safest solution, but you can decide and discuss that in your own question.
