Is there a way to have new windows/links open behind the current open window, running Mavericks?
I would like to have new windows that open from links, or when I "right-click, open new window", to open behind the window I am reading from, working from, browsing, etc. I often am doing research, and opening multiple supplemental links, but do not like having to click back to the page I am working from every time.
A separate choice when I right click, to "open in new window behind current window" would be great!

There is no add on that I know of that can do this, but there has been an implementation found for javascript via this link:
- Stackoverflow: prevent document from losing a focus when a new tab is opened
- There is also an about:config entry: Browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction that is explained wht to do when clicking on a link in a webpage that requires a new window open, but it does not restrict the focus of the tab
- Tab Mix Plus has similar features check this one out too.

If you would open the pages in a new tab instead of a new window then you would be able to open them in the background.
If you open a link in a new window then the window will get focus.
You can hold down the Command key and left-click a link or middle-click a link to open the link in a new tab.
- Firefox > Preferences > Tabs: [ ] "When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately"
