"Sort By Name" isn't working at all

Before I complained that it wasn't working very well, that it has to be constantly updated, that it can't remember such a simple setting as alphabetical sorting for bookmarks, something that every other browser I have ever used does automatically. In fact every file system does this automatically. Its utterly bewildering that this is unsorted alphabetically by default. One wonders what kinds of minds implement such an illogical default setting.

Anyway, now I pasted some folders in Bookmarks Menu in a different place and they remain unsorted, even when I right click Bookmarks Menu and click Sort By Name. On the right side there is a horizontal line, like a line break, between the folders I pasted in and the rest of them. I didn't want that. I didn't request that. Thank you Firefox, for thinking brainlessly for me.

When I cut and paste just one folder it automatically ends up at the top of this list. Sorting by Name is ineffective in moving it. Its like its pinned there, obstinately refusing to be moved.

Does anyone have a clue why this is happening?

One does wonder if designers ever actually use the stuff they design these days. It seems they design by computer with no actual real world usage so flaws like this continue without correction. Not that anybody with a clue would ever design an organizational system of any kind that does not sort alphabetically by default. I wonder if they sort numbers randomly too?

Bookmark sorting occurs between separators. To remove an unwanted separator, right-click it and choose Delete.
