Did you try the Add-ons page? Either:

  • Command+shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions, then check the list on the right for anything suspicious, unrecognized or unnecessary and disable it.

In some cases, you need to restart Firefox in order for that to take effect. Once you've completed your review, if any extensions have a restart link, you can do that as the last step.

Success?

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
