Firefox has been grinding to a halt over and over again in recent weeks as its memory footprint keeps growing to over 2 gigs. Sweet Jebus, 2 gigs! I only use a handful of addons and Tab Mix Plus is the most recent so I disabled it. However, now I am unable to re-enable the session restore feature that worked without problem before installing Tab Mix Plus. If I remember, correctly, Tab Mix Plus took over the session restore utility, but now it seems to be clobbered.

Any advice is appreciated.

Hello,

Try asking on the Tab Mix Plus forums:

You may need to just reset Firefox to fix your settings, but it might be safer to just message on that forum to see if someone already has a fix for it. Please post let us know if you find it!

You can check browser.sessionstore.* prefs including browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash on the about:config page and reset browser.sessionstore prefs that are user set (bold) via the right-click context menu to the default value to make sure that Session Restore is enabled and working properly.

You can try to disable OMTC and leave hardware acceleration in Firefox enabled.

  • about:config page: layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.
