I already posted on the first page of this thread that you should check for issues with the places.sqlite file. Did you miss this or didn't it work at the time?
After I updated to 36.0.1....I tried rename again and rename seems to have resolved. Don't know why now and not before. Will see if sorted 100% after more trial. So, do I retain sqliteold and new sqlite....?

Good to see you're getting a lot of help..... Again, STAR does not Bookmark. More NO than YES.
Hi, we don't live here.
The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.
If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.
There are several ways to bookmark a web page. If it is not working, then we can help you solve the problem.
- 1 Press the Bookmarking Star on the toolbar.
- 2 Right click an empty area of the page and select the star at the top of the options.
- 3 Press <Control> D
This should open a window so you can place the new bookmark. You can place the bookmark in any folder, or create a new folder. You can also edit the name or the web link.
Yeah, chosen solution resulted in clicking email link I thought would open Topic for me to review / see new reply. Solution is not Solution.... added posts resulted from not finding edit
1 Press the Bookmarking Star on the toolbar. 2 Right click an empty area of the page and select the star at the top of the options. 3 Press <Control> D

Don't worry, this is very common because of the way the alert e-mail is set up. Look at the bottom of the alert you are reading. You see a nice BIG button that says Solved. And behind it is a small button that opens the forum.
If you want, go to the post that is flagged as Solved. To its right, there is a button to press to remove the flag.
Then you can flag the post that did solve the problem.
The green bar states > Mark it as solved < mark it is prompting action from within the Forum not from the email...at least that's my read fwiw
To its right, there is a button to press to remove the flag.
Yeah, not finding button to press ~
OK found Undo...
where is the edit Is there a time lag for edit to show ?
Modified
If you want to edit one of your posts, locate that post, Edit is at the top right.
Now trying to figure out if Quote is above or below post....
Does edit have a time delay to show
I clicked Quote lets see if I see a Quote
Normally there is probably no need to edit posts once they are made; unless like me your typing is bad.
If you wish to find this thread again bookmark it. Link /questions/1046261 to find all your posts look in your profile /user/bjm_
Note when you use the bookmarks star the location used defaults to being the folder for unsorted bookmarks. There are quite a few articles on bookmarks with screenshots and even animations maybe a post I have recently made may be of interest
- Clicking the star on the Navigation toolbar will bookmark the page in the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder and the star turns blue to show that
- Bookmarks > "Bookmark This Page" (Ctrl+D) will bookmark the page in the Bookmarks Menu folder (you need to confirm that)
- "Bookmark This Page" can be accessed via the right-click context menu in the browsing area or via the Bookmarks menu in the Firefox menu button drop down or menu bar (Alt+B)
- If the URL in the Navigation toolbar is bookmarked and the star is highlighted blue then click this highlighted star or use the "Bookmark This Page/Edit This Bookmark" menu item (Ctrl+D) to edit the properties of the bookmark like name and location and move the bookmark to another folder or remove the bookmark

this url is an example of address that does not bookmark for me on W8.1 https://community.norton.com/en/forum.../gurus-volunteers-and-other-ranks-know EDIT: have no idea why posted link does not work as a live link to see example of site that will not Bookmark. Blue Star moves to Bookmark....but, url is not listed anywhere
Modified
I've corrected the link that pointed to example.com, so it should now open the Norton website. I get a blue highlighted star if I click the star to bookmark that page.
What happens for you if you click the star?
If there is a problem with creating a new bookmark then check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

Blue Star moves to Bookmark....but, url is not listed anywhere I see Blue Star float to Books....gray star remains gray
On this site https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1046261#answer-691453 link text Blue Star floats to Books.....and gray start goes blue....I find url with Recently Bookmarked. As I tried to explain. Bookmark for me on W8.1 is on again off again. On Vista box. Never have a Bookmark issue. On this url https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1046261#answer-691453 ....star is Blue indicating site is Bookmarked.....so, why does Bookmark work on this url and not the other ?
Modified
Thanks for your interest and info... My bookmark quandary remains. No matter how I attempt to bookmark. Site A will bookmark. Site B will not bookmark. The sites that do not bookmark on W8.x ....bookmark on Vista. My add-ons are the same. Granted there are probably a bazillion differences Vista v W8. All I know is sites bookmarks on Vista and do not on W8
Modified
