how does one permanently remove bing ?

more options

every time i open firefox i have to click on the search icon and "change search settings", because , even though i have removed it, the insidious bing has reappeared as the default search engine. i remove bing again, choose yahoo secure search; but if i exit firefox, vile bing will be back when i next open firefox. also, if i open the add-ons manager folder and click on extensions, i just get a blank page. thank you

Bing may come back with every Firefox update, It is coded inside of Firefox as one of the default search engine for en-US localization and may be a default search engine in other localizations.

The best you can do is to go into Search Setting for "One Click search engines" and 'click' on it to remove the check-mark to hide it in the UI for the One Click selector panel.
