How do I get back the little plus button to make windows bigger and smaller? I don't want full screen, ever.

I usually use my browser as half a screen width, but occasionally I want full screen width, with other applications overlaying it. I do not want full screen mode. As far as I can tell, since upgrading the only option is full screen, which is not a feature I want or will use. It is inconvenient to have to keep manually scaling windows.

You are talking about the size of the Firefox window, yes? There is full screen, adjustable size, and drop to taskbar. Are you saying the buttons are not working?

The full size used to just adjust the window leaving the task bar and top menu visible, and allowing other programs available to overlay, now instead of the plus sign, there are double triangles in the button, that expands the firefox window to full screen, with no task bar and no top menu. In order to use another program at the same time, I now have to manually size the firefox window. Is it possible this is a OS "feature"?

Try pressing <F11>

On Mac full screen mode (Command+Shift+F) probably keeps the toolbars visible, but I assume that full screen mode places the Firefox application on top and apparently you would not want this to happen.

Do you still see the green, red, and yellow buttons on the Firefox title bar?

Doesn't the green button maximize the window?

Can you attach a screenshot?

  • use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
  • make sure that you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB
