How do I learn what a particular plugin does?

more options

I was looking at the list of plugins installed and I noticed a few that I'm not familiar with, and don't know what they do. I sure don't recall installing them. I clicked on the "more" link. In Extensions, that would give me some info about the add-on, but with the plugins, all I get is a version number, date updated, and other technical info. Nothing about what it does, who published it, nor a link to any more info. Please tell me, how do I learn what a particular plugin does, where it came from, etc? Thanks!!

Open the Add-ons Manager > Plugins tab. {Ctrl + Shift + A } > Plugins

Then click the More ... hyperlink. Short explanation about each Plugin and either a URL hyperlink or a "Learn more..." hyperlink to take to a webpage for the developer of the Plugin.

Although Plugins that are installed by other programs don't always show any additional information. When that happens it's time to use your favorite search engine to locate that information for your self. All Mozilla can do is to request that Plugin developers provide that information for their users in the Add-ons Manager; and if they don't it's a said commentary about how little they value the users of their applications that install Plugins for Firefox.

Thanks for replying. As I mentioned in my original post, I DID click the "MORE" link and got no information. I've also googled GameTreatWidget and gotten very little info. Especially how to remove it. On theplug-ins page it only shows choices of "always activate" (or never or ask). No way to remove. It doesn't show up in control panel's Programs and Features. It's not found on the app "Should I Remove It?". I found only one app that says it can remove it, but I've never heard of it. ("WindowexeAllkiller Download : Free Download" from http://windowpdb.com/q.php?q=npgametreatwidget-dll-c-program-files-free-ride-games). I learned the hard way about downloading too freely, so I'm leery of downloading this one.

I know I didn't download this. I just wiped my hard drive and reinstalled everything from a jump drive sent to me directly from ASUS. I can't figure out how it got on my PC. Even if I did - how can there be no way to remove it?

Below is the Troubleshooting Report, in case it might help. I couldn't figure out how to copy it from the clipboard, so it's unformatted. Hope it's readable enough. Thanks for your help! Nancie

Plugins generally do not have a Remove button because they are installed in a shared location rather than in your currently active profile folder.

To discover the location on disk of plugins, you can use an internal page: type or paste about:plugins in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Each plugin should list the full path and a table of types of content that it handles. Sometimes that will help you associate it with a particular application. Or sometimes things just show up from a free software install, bundled items that were not disclosed plainly or didn't offer an option to reject.
