When I say the options tab doesn't work, I click on Tools, then Options. No action occurs.

I've never had a new browser open when I click on a link, my options setting has to open a new tab. This only started with 48.0.x. Of course I can't see if it has changed because the options tab won't work.

Chosen solution

Try this, does it work?

Type about:preferences <enter> in the address bar

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

The about:preferences command worked and showed me the options were set correctly. Restarting with the add-ons disabled solved the problem, it was the Yahoo toolbar and new tab add-on. Looks like Yahoo has been messing with this. I can't even download a fresh copy!!! Thanks Bobby
