I sent a sensitive email to my boss and I'm fairly sure I asked for a Return Receipt which is customary within our organization and he generally acknowledges the return receipt but on this one I didnt get a "read" email back. How can I be sure I requested one? I looked at the headers in the sent message and dont see anything obvious. Please advise.

Thanks!

It's possible he read your message with an app that doesn't support read receipts, such as the Gmail. Since the feature requires (voluntary) action of the recipient, even if their email program supports it, it's an unreliable method of tracking email. Further discussion and alternatives here.
