Copy your profile out : C:\Users\<Windows login/user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>

You can also use this path to find the profile folder, even when it is hidden: From Run/Search %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>

This should help you save your profile (make another copy and keep somewhere safe) which you can add to a new Firefox install.

What happened last night? Hmm...

Usually when you start Firefox, of course, you see your usual data. Sometimes after Windows updates, Firefox doesn't have full privileges and your data is not available. This may clear up after you shut down Windows and start up again.

However, if it doesn't, Pkshadow has indicated where on your computer Firefox normally stores its data. If you can find some folders there with recently updated files -- check for a folder named bookmarkbackups and see how recent they are -- then we can assist you in regaining use of that data.
