I want to set the url of new tab. Old methods don't work with new Firefox 57.0 (browser.newtab.url is gone from about:config) Support is telling me to use plugins as workaround. The question is: why is browser.newtab.url depracated and why are you forcing me to use plugins for functionality that used to be a part of vanilla Firefox and should stay that way? Shouldn't that actually be in the settings, just like homepage?

hi, the browser.newtab.url preference is deprecated since firefox 41 released more than two years ago because it was a pref commonly targeted by adware. there are numerous good addons available that easily let you customize the new tab page though...
