Thank you jscher2000 , Hieroglyphics ie. |||\ etc top right of Firefox screen. Its very different to what I had before especially bookmarks is much more cumbersome. I should never have done the refresh because it caused me a lot of work ie. it showed pdfs in a tab and I always show them in Nitro Reader - that took me almost an hour to find out how to change it. I will carry on because I so dislike IE.

hi, what error code/message do you get when you click on the advanced button on the error page?

oh i see, they haven't properly implemented their intermediary certificate. you can locally solve that by just visiting this url once: https://entrust.ssllabs.com/analyze.html?d=www.joburgombudsman.org.za&hideResults=on&latest - afterwards the missing cert will be cached in your profile through this site which properly implements it.

you may want to reach out to the webmasters of the affected website too though, so that they generally fix the problem on their end

But , why does it work in IE.

Thank you very much for your quick reply. This all started when Firefox told me that my Firefox is slow and i should do a refresh to speed it up. now i have this insecure website problem with many sites and a very strange hieroglyphic looking Firefox which i must now learn all over again. I don't like ie because it updates itself to death and security issues. but this Firefox is now also becoming problematic.

@hermb, I clicked on the link and had no problems loading the page. So unless you can give us the actual screen shot error. I doubt this is coming from FF or the site unless we can see what the error actually shows on the screen shot.

Internet Explorer has a feature to help out webmasters who do not provide a complete set of certificates. Firefox does not do that.

What do you mean by "hieroglyphic looking"?

It sounds like you have it sorted, but just in case:

The optional new bookmarks menu button () should work the same way as the old bookmarks menu button (), which was the "right-half" of the inseparable star+book duo.

To add that button, either:

(A) Use the Customize panel (Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars) to drag the icon to the desired spot on the toolbar

(B) Use the method from Bookmarks in Firefox - section entitled: How do I add the Bookmarks Menu button to the toolbar?

  • Click the "Library" button:
  • Click "Bookmarks"
  • Click "Bookmarking Tools"
  • Click "Add Bookmarks Menu to Toolbar"

jscher2000 Thank you very much for taking the time to help me. I have managed to get the bookmarks sorted.
