I had 59.0b1 running, but Attachment Extractor & Walnut Add-ons not supported. So per help suggestion to my earlier question & "http://kb.mozillazine.org/Go_back_to_an_old_version_of_Firefox", downloaded 52.6.0. Exited TBird, deleted my old profile in %APPDATA%. Copied old xxx.default profile over an earlier copy for insurance - some error messages "same filename". Installed new TBird version.

Walnut now works - great! Attachment Extractor still not supported..

Now all the hundred or so emails in my Inbox are gone, just downloaded a few new ones. Address books are gone.

Any suggestions?

I see what happened... I had been using POP3, downloading my email from the server & keeping it on my PC. 52.6.0 installed my account as IMAP, & after installing 52.6.0, I deleted my phone messages as usual after I review them. This then deleted all my inbox on my PC.

I am not pleased that T'Bird changed my mail account to IMAP without a dialog box asking my preferences.

I still don't know why my address books all vanished, but I had exported all of them earlier, so I just re-imported all 10,000 entries.

Not pleased with recent TBird installs!

Unless you deleted a profile folder, your address books would have been retained; search for *.mab files, e.g. abook.mab is Personal Address Book and history.mab is Collected Addresses. Enable viewing of hidden files and folders to search for profile files.

When you set up an account, TB first looks for IMAP settings, but the setup window offers the choice of POP or IMAP. Even if you remove a POP account and add it as IMAP, the POP mail is still in the profile folder, even if it is not displayed in TB.
