So after I updated to firefox q it keeps deleting my history after a month.

I installed fresh firefox and new profile in November, but if I go to my history I only find February, so November, December, and January is gone. In settings I have it to save my history but it still delete everything older than a month.

Are you saying entries are removed after 30 days, or at the end of the month?

Profile data can be removed or not recorded several ways;

  • 1) Running Firefox in Private Mode (nothing is recorded)
  • 2) Privacy settings; (In the address bar, type about:preferences#privacy<enter>)
  • 3) Many disk cleaners and anti-virus type programs can remove data from browsers. Open their settings and have them leave the browsers alone.
  • 4) Mal-ware.

Not sure if it monthly or after 30 days, I just see history for February and Mars, and don't know if I can see the specific date in History.

1. Not running in Private Mode. 2. I have it on "Firefox will remember history. 3. Not running any disk cleaners. 4. Unlikely to be infected.

Did not know I could see the date it was added, but the first entry is 2/24/2018.

I have been using Firefox for around mid November 2017

I called for more help. As I told you before;

Each day, open the History Manager <Control><Shift> H
Find out what the earliest date is.
How long/when does this change?
more options

The first entry is 2/25/2018, 8:34 AM. 5 Hours ago it had the 2/24/2018 entry, I was AFK or watching youtube during that time, so no programs or other things was started. So it most likely was Firefox that deleted the history.

Firefox seems to only keep a week of history and not a month.

I was away from keyboard. So my computer turned on the screen saver due to inactivity.

Last entry is still 2/25/2018, 8:34 AM. I'll check time to time and see when the change happens. Think it's going to purge the history somewhere around 10:00-13:00 tomorrow, but I will report back next time it happens.

Last entry is 2/25/2018, 6:37 PM.

Before I closed firefox yesterday it was 8:34 AM, this morning the first entry was 6:37 PM.

more options

Now it's 2/25/2018, 7:26 PM.

So Firefox keeps removing old entries. And I don't know how to stop it.

Edit: 2/25/2018, 7:33 PM.

So Firefox delete anything older than 7 days and 11-ish hours, it is currently 03/05/2018, 7:20 AM.

And could I recommend you switch to ISO 8601 standard and not American time keeping? ISO 8601

This sounds like that action of an add-on (I use one myself) but I don't see one on your list.

more options

The only addon that I have installed that removes stuff is Cookie AutoDelete and it should only delete cookies after a close the tab.

I don't know what dictate when Firefox should delete history, nor do I know how to look what triggers it.

If you can, I want you to disable all of your add-ons. If the problem stops, then we know something.

Nope, tried with all addons disabled "Safe mode", it still deletes the history.

What protection programs are you using? Open their settings and have them leave the browser alone.

I'm using Windows Firewall, then I have external hardware.

Are you using sync? If so shut it down.

Hi there, So currently you are on the beta channel. After version 60, there will be dedicated profiles for each version of Firefox. Can you confirm that you did not downgrade Firefox at any point between today and that February date?

I would first check to see if you have multiple profiles listed in your profile folder.

This is how you can get there:

  1. Go to about:support
  2. Click on "Show in..." next to "Profile Folder"

Can you tell me if you have another profile with a history (places.sqlite) folder that has a more recent date than 2/27?

I believe Fred already took you through the troubleshooting steps that check if third party program could be preventing history from being saved or if sync is syncing a preference from another device that has unchecked History. However, there are a few other items that I need to confirm with you -

  1. if you browse for a while in Safe Mode, do you see entries in the History > Show All History menu?
  2. In your profile folder do you see a user.js file, parent.lock file?
  3. Are there any crashes recently listed from the last history date on the about:crashes page?

This is why I am asking these questions: {https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-fix-preferences-wont-save#w_t...}

Bugs maybe: Session due to crash? https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1330633 is it a new bug, is it due to conflict between add-on and sync = this will be it if the history shows up after safe mode

I am looking forward to your reply.
