Recently Firefox has stopped opening up web pages when I click on a URL. It opens a tab ... but more often than not just a blank page , with busy, icon on the tab.

If I hold 'Ctrl' and then click it opens page OK ? ...... just a bit annoying how can I get back to way it was ?

I used to have similar issue. I removed Firefox completely. Not just uninstalled but removed residual files as well. And then re-installed it. Now it's working fine. To be honest sometimes I still face this issue but that's once in a week.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

You can boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen or hold down the Shift key) to see if that has effect in case other software is causing this issue.
