My adblocker, after years of working well, has stopped working. I'm getting ads on every site. On going to the add-on download site of Adblocker plus for Firefox at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/ there is only a "remove" button, but nothing happens when clicking it. So apparently I can't even delete and reinstall it. What can I do?

Try to remove and reinstall the extension. Menu button -> Add-ons -> Extensions and remove Adblock Plus. Restart Firefox and install it from addons.mozilla.org.

Alternatively, you can try one the following recommend extensions part of the Recommended Extensions program:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblocker-ultimate https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ghostery/ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adguard-adblocker

Instead of giving up on ABP after all these years; why don't you just send them an email and let them know about your problem ? There are some very nice people there (speaking from experience) :
