I had Thunderbird running last year... No problems. My HDD died and I lost Thunderbird. I installed Thunderbird on new computer and I can not get it to connect. I'm using Yahoo mail, but I want Thunderbird and the address book, etc.

Message in 'YELLOW' when checking password. "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password."

The same username and password that I use for Yahoo.mail.

They are the same username and password, aren't they???

No, they're not. Yahoo requires a separate password when accessed from an email client. See this URL: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN15241.html

Not really a comprehensive problem description. Please explain in detail

  • what you're doing
  • what happens
  • what you expect to happen.
Yahoo requires a separate password when accessed from an email client.

App passwords are not needed when using OAuth2 authentication, which is what's recommended.
