I usually have two Ff sessions goins; one regular for sites I log on to and a Private for casual browsing.

It would be great if I could set the Private session to always accept cookies and not prompt me, but the two modes don't seem to be separated in the settings.

Is there a work-around (or possibly a plug-in) that could solve this?

To reduce cookie banners, go to about:config and change cookiebanners.service.mode to 1. Install uBlock Origin and enable all the Annoyance filters.

You might want to use a separate profile and configure it differently to always use private browsing mode.
