Hello, Over the last week or so I have not been able to send emails with Thunderbird but I can receive them with Thunderbird. I have contacted my internet provider, Telstra and they advise me it is not a problem with them as I can send emails via their Wed Mail. I have been getting a message saying to check my SMTP settings when I try to send emails via Thunderbird but I am not sure what to expect. My anti virus is with AVG. Hope you can help. John

Try to start Windows 8 in safe mode with networking enabled. Does the problem go away?

Windows safe mode disables anti-virus software. This is a troubleshooting step, not a solution.

If you're using TB128, note that Windows 8 isn't supported anymore. https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/128.0esr/system-requirements/
