Video won't display on browser from a website. There is nothing wrong with the video. It used to show, but somewhere along the line a add-on blocked it. Not add blocker and I don't remember the name of the extension. I removed the extension, and even after re-install, and refresh & clearing history it wouldn't show. On the last reinstall, I deleted all folder data files associated with firefox with the hope of a clean install. Nope. The install of firefox still said re-install. I tried every option imaginable in the reinstall and still I got my old firefox back with the same problem. I tried refresh of course, also. So what can I do? I did a lot of searching for existing answers to the problem, and didn't find anything.

I'm guessing this isn't a major video site like YouTube, Vimeo, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.

Is there just a blank rectangle where the video should be, or is there a message in the player that might point to the source of the problem?

Firefox collects error messages for a tab in the Web Console. You can view that by pressing Ctrl+Shift+K. Does it list anything that seems to be related to the video?

You can check for issues with Enhanced Tracking Protection and Total Cookie Protection. Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content.

  • click the shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection

You can check the Web Console for relevant-looking messages like about blocked content.

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock,NoScript,DuckDuckGo PE,Disconnect,Ghostery,uBlock Origin,Malwarebytes), always make sure such extensions do not block content.

The triangle doesn't turn purple for enhanced tracking protection. There is no box where the video should show. I don't know what to do with control-shift-K. I had privacy badger and that is where the problem began. I deleted it from the extensions. I had duck duck go extension for privacy and I deleted that as well. Both these blocked the website from showing because I could see these extensions where the video should be. On my other computers and phone, the website video does show as it should. Now, where there should be a video, there is empty space. As I have mentioned. I have tried to reinstall the firefox three times and each time, no matter what I do, and that included deleted firefox data folders, I would get my old firefox back with the extensions that I put on the browser. Thank you Jsher 2000 and Corell moderator for giving this some consideration.
