My laptop has Windows. I just installed the beta version of Firefox 4.0 and my computer wouldn't connect to any websites because of something about the proxy settings. Then I got fed up and totally uninstalled Firefox, but then even Internet Explorer still wouldn't connect to the internet, and its settings hadn't been changed at all. What do I do??

I'd recommend checking if something has messed around with IE's proxy settings. However, please note that Firefox never touches IE's proxy settings except for reading and using them.

Start IE and choose Tools. Then, choose "Internet Options" at the bottom of the menu that appears. Go to Connections. Click the LAN Settings button. Now, make sure that the last two checkboxes aren't ticked. Then click OK twice.
