Hi I had something very similar happen to me after just getting a new laptop. Same issues, I could login and see the inbox but could'nt change folders, open emails or send new ones.

After all my frustration I did these steps and oddly enough it worked...I don't know WHY it just works now.

First Clear your Cache, And delete all your cookies. Both of these can be found under "tools" - "options" - "network (for cache) then "privacy (for cookies) "

Next go to your addon plugin's. "Tools" - "Addons" - "Plugins" Disable them all and try to hotmail again. If it works, start enabling the addons one by one and keep checking.

This is supposed to find a conflict why the emails don't open and what plugin is the culprit. But I disabled all mine then enabled all of them again and things were working fine. So I dunno. Computers are weird! Hope this helps.
