On the bookmarks toolbar, there's this 'shortcut' on the right side that takes the space from the actual bookmark itself. now i can't even show all my normal set of bookmark without having some of them hidden. is it possible to remove it at all?

Open the Customize mode and drag that button down into the Palette, then click Done.

That button is part of the Bookmarks Toolbar Items and can't be removed that easily (i.e. disappears if you open the Customize window).
