Why does firefox redownload web page items instead of using cache?
I have a slow internet connection. When visiting a web site and going to another page within that site, upon returning to the prior page, Firefox reloads all the items instead of using the cache. For example, If I go to CNN.com, click on a story, read it and then go back to the first page, Firefox re-downloads the first page rather than using previously downloaded page items. In older versions, options allowed choosing when the browser used the cache. If I had a faster internet connection it may not matter, but I live on a ship an am stuck with wireless for now.

Best is always to open links in a new tab with a middle-click and close the tab to go back and not open links in the current tab and use the Back button to go back.
A website can specify a browser not to cache pages and in such cases will Firefox reload the content from the server or at least check on the server if the content is up to date.
That should work, but not the solution I wanted and not what I expected from Firefox.
