Put simply, I recently updated my Java and went to play a java based game. It said I need to download a missing plugin to display the content, so I did. Firefox downloads the plugin called "Java Runtime Enviorment 1.7 u10" but once it finishes the download it simply says "Failed".

I tried the 'manual install' button but that too just brings me to a page that says I need a missing plugin to view the content.

Is there any way I can fix this?

That plugin version is blocked due to security problems. You need to get the latest Java v7 update 11.
