Lync conference calls launched from Outlook do not trigger the event in Lync. How do I fix this?
My company uses Outlook and Lync on Windows 7. Prior to upgraded to Firefox 21, I could open an appointment in Outlook, then click on a "join the call" link. This would trigger a page in Firefox, that would in turn trigger the Lync application to launch the call.
Since the upgrade, instead of launching Lync, it takes me to a page that offers options such as "join meeting using your web browser," "download and install Lync Attendee," and "use Communicator." This is not the desired behavior. Pasting the "join the call" link into Internet Explorer and Safari for Windows executes the correct behavior. It's as though Firefox is not aware of Lync. This behavior literally started after the updated to Firefox 21.
How do I correct this?

hello mrguilt, i personally don't know anything about this Lync Attendee software - however, is it possible that it came with a plugin for firefox that is required for proper functioning? if so you could try entering about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named plugins.load_appdir_plugins. double-click it and change its value to true (a restart of the browser might be necessary afterwards for the change to take effect).

It was already set to true.
I don't believe there was an explicit plug-in loaded. When I was originally issued the system, it had Lync on it, but not Firefox. No additional configuration was needed--I loaded firefox, set it as my default browser, and it just worked.
for testing purposes i've now installed the "Microsoft Lync 2010 Attendee" program and during the setup it puts a plugin-in file (npMeetingJoinPluginAOC.dll, Microsoft Lync 2010 Attendee Meeting Join Plug-in) into the \plugins folder within the firefox installation directory, so this should be exactly the case that is covered in the article linked above. please double-check that plugins.load_appdir_plugins is set to true or if this doesn't work, manually copy the npMeetingJoinPluginAOC.dll file from \plugins into \browser\plugins.
The Lync Attendee was never loaded in the first place--it was a "recommendation" on their page.
Oddly, the problem seemed to correct itself this morning. I'm not sure what happened.
- Open Explorer
- Open " C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox"
- Move the plugins folder to the browser folder
