firefox closes all windows
Ever since taking the latest update for Firefox, anytime I click on a link on a page that opens into a new window, if I try to "X" out that second window, it also closes the page I came from. If I manually open another window for whatever purpose, it seems to work fine. It's only when I get a new window from a link in the previous one. BOTH windows always shut down. Not tabs, but windows. It's very annoying if I wasn't done with the first page I was on. I even tried to minimize the second open window, then right clicking from my task bar to close it, but it will still also close the original window I was in when I clicked the link. This has happened on MANY websites I've visited from links.

Looks like the reinstall did the trick. I'm glad it did, because I honestly didn't like the idea of having to go in and make all those changes being suggested. In my mind, we shouldn't have to do all that, just to get the browser to operate properly. So, I will mark this as being "solved", but will definitely report it again, if the problems re-surface.
Thanks!

I reinstalled mosella firefox but it still closes all open windows when I try to close only 1 window.
I had trouble finding it, but here is the original responses I got to the problem. In the end, all I did was reinstall it and it worked for me. Sorry it didn't for you, though. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/964954?fpa=1&page=1
sorry I poste this twice

did you do a clean install ie: remove all user data and settings? I didn't so maybe that was the problem?? Thanks
Hi gwevens, it's confusing, but there are two ways to do a clean install:
- uninstall and scrub -- you lose your bookmarks and personal data
- remove Firefox program folder and reinstall -- your personal data is not lost
If you think your settings might the problem, you can try a two minute "new profile" test. A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash), but no themes, extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.
Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):
firefox.exe -P
Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
When creating a new profile, I recommend using the default location suggested, and to avoid data loss, not re-using any existing folder. Before deleting unneeded profiles, I suggest making a backup first in case something were to go wrong.
Does Yahoo work better in the new profile? Please ignore that question
Do the window and tab close buttons work as expected in the new profile?

I only did the second thing that jscher2000 mentioned, ----- "remove Firefox program folder and reinstall -- your personal data is not lost" It worked fine for me. I haven't had any problems since doing that, back in July when I posted about it.
