Instead of a pop up, a new tab opens with an unwanted web site (https://www.365dayloan.com/?hid=12573004&n=24329&fname=&lname=&email=), WHY/HOW?

In the last week, I have noticed that a 'spam-like' web site opens when I click on a button in a web site I am using. The site I was in goes to the correct location, but at the same time, another sited opens and becomes the one on the screen. One that has opened is (https://www.365dayloan.com/?hid=12573004&n=24329&fname=&lname=&email=). Another was a game site. This is NOT a pop up; it is an unwanted site on a new tab. How do I stop these unwanted sites from opening?

I do not remember ever going to this financial site before. I KNOW that I have never been to the gaming site.

hello, there are multiple potentially malicious extensions present in your profile [Fast Free Converter 4.3, Default Manager 2.2 (Inactive), XULRunner 1.9.1 (Inactive)] - please see if you can get rid of them when you reset firefox as this will also get rid of the user.js file in your profile folder which is used to overwrite custom preferences...

afterwards run a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.

I didn't know about this feature. I did reset, and I will see how it goes.

For now, the problem has not reoccurred. We'll see.

thanks!
