Every time I download something , i.e. pdf, I get 10+ download windows opening, please tell me how to fix this?
I have Windows XP, I no longer see the download arrow next to my home on the browser tab. This behavior just started recently, but each time I attempt to download something I get multiple download windows opening. The last time I downloaded a 20 page pdf, it gave me 30 download windows. I'm sure this is not helping the stability of my computer. Please tell me how to fix this. If you will send me an email with a valid address to send a screen shot, I will send one to you the next time it happens.

Try start Firefox in Safe Mode:
Case the idea above dont solve the problem try scann your computer:
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

I think this is a known and hopefully temporary bug in the "Download Manager Tweak" extension. See: Why does my download window open with every download?
You get this problem if you select the Firefox program to handle a file when you get an "Open With" dialog.
Try to delete the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all file actions.
Thanks for your help. Although this information was helpful it did not appear to fix the problem. I think the real issue was the download manager tweak add-in as suggested on another post.
Once I got rid of that add-in my problem disappeared.
