Newspaper 'The Independent' crossword accessed for many years is suddenly blocked to me. Why? How do I unblock it?

for about 10 years or more I have been completing the online crossword in the Independent (UK) newspaper. About a year ago I began getting a message appearing before the crossword loaded saying that the site might be dangerous - did I want to continue. When I ticked 'yes' the crossword loaded. Today, I downloaded an update for Java, and now the crossword is completely blocked. How do I unblock it? I have tried what you suggested on your 'Help' site, but it didn't make any difference.

I had the same problem recently with a crossword site after I had updated Java. I turned that Java blocked the site because it was http, not https. In the Java program, you can Configure Java to allow that site. I still have to confirm each time, but now it loads the puzzle.

hello petergenower, this blocking is done by the java plugin itself & not trough firefox. so please refer to oracle's documentation on the subject: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/appsecuritydialogs.xml
