The font on Internet Explorer is thick, sharp, easy to read. The same pages on Mozilla Firefox has font that is thin, scraggly, almost looks out of focus, and is very difficult to read. The font settings are correct. The font clarity is terrible.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available" https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes https://hacks.mozilla.org/2010/09/hardware-acceleration/ Try to set the gfx.content.azure.enabled pref to false or if this didn't help disable Direct2D by setting the gfx.direct2d.disabled pref to true on the about:config page and leave hardware acceleration otherwise enabled.

Create a new Boolean pref on the about:config page via the right-click context menu with the name layout.paint_rects_separately and set the value to true and leave hardware acceleration enabled.
