The number may vary but the message is always the same, I am being blacklisted. Can anyone tell me way this is happening, and what to do to fix it, Please? As far as I can remember, it sorts it self out, but it hasn't for over a week now and it is really frustrating. Thank you for reading this plea. Regards Ilio Pieroni

Starting on 10/01/2024 Thunderbird no longer allows me to send or receive email.

When I try to read messages using Thunderbird, I get the following: Sending of password for user XX@msn.com did not succeed. Mail server outlook.office365.com responded: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.

When I try to send messages using Thunderbird, I get the following: Enter your password for XX on smtp.office365.com:

I have tried redoing the password and it does not help.

This is on a WIN/10 system. I updated to the latest version of Thunderbird and it did not help.

I checked out Thunderbird on my WIN/XP and get the same results as with WIN/10.

When I use Firefox and login to https://outlook.live.com/mail/0/, I can send and receive email as before. The same is also true with my Mobile Phone.

I got an email from Microsoft saying my Live.com or Outlook.com email accounts won't be supported in Thunderbird UNLESS I change the settings to OAuth2 in incoming and outgoing server settings.

I even REMOVED the email account and re-added it making sure it was OAuth2.

But for my live.com & outlook.com email accounts I continually get prompts for passwords from Thunderbird. Sometimes I can't even click the RED X at the upper right to shut the prompt down. I just happens over and over until I give it what it wants.

I am tempted to shut down all Microsoft email accounts and switch to Gmail.

I have Thunderbird version 115.12.2 (64-bit) I used Windows 11 23H2 build 22631.3810 Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1020.0

Any idea how to stop these prompts?

I like Thunderbird much more than any other email program I have ever used, and would like to keep it

Hello: t-bird 128.3.0 esr 64bit. W11pro laptop (dell). MalwareBytes Team up & running & up to date, many yrs. Problem: an attachment, which I tried to completely remove, keeps "coming back" in emails, in a specific inbox (only 1 inbox, of 1 acct). Other t-bird mail accts do NOT have this issue. -The "coming back" means that I delete the attachment and empty the t-bird trash. The attachment then plants itself in another email. -Once planted in an email, it appears the attachment completely erases the body of the text of the body of the email. -The attachment, when opened, is an image of a family. That is it. It is not of any family we know. It is always the same family. -I "found" the attachment (using a search program) by name, "img_2068.jpg" . Deleted what I thought were all occurrences of this file on the laptop, which were only 2 files, both in temp folders. I deleted all temp files from the laptop, emptying the w11 trash & also running w11 file deletion apps. Malwarebytes has never detected this corrupt image file. -After making all those deletions, I ran the search and the search prog did not detect the file. But I reopened t-bird and the corrupt attachment has attached itself to another email, and the same behavior recurs (I delete attachment, corrupt attachment attaches itself to another email).

-Also please note, the emails that had the corrupt attachment attached (have been previously not having any attachments), do exist on the mail server (imap), where you can see the the message body/text. And again, once the corrupt attachment infects an email, in t-bird, that email's body/text goes blank, there is no longer any message to be seen. There is just the attachment notice at the bottom of the email border, to be clicked on to open.

Is the only solution to completely back up all the t-bird accts (address books, sent, drafts, etc.) and reinstall t-bird program (and/or profiles) ? Or, would an "easier" way work (or has worked), like simply deleting the inbox of the "infected" account? I would then download the uncorrupted emails from the imap server in a new inbox. But I don't know where to find this corrupt file, there is apparently no "attachments" folder for t-bird. And again, searching by corrupted attachment file name, and removing it as above, has apparently NOT removed all instances. I don't know how else to find it.

Please advise. Thank you.

I have no technical skills for going in and coding anything.

Norton 360 updated last night and now Thunderbird isn't working.

I tried logging in to Thunderbird but it kept saying my certificate was wrong and refusing to check my emails. I tried to click "add exception" but it didn't help.

It also kept saying its own homepage was a security risk and blocking it.

I figured it was Nortons new update, but have no idea how to fix it. I turned off Nortons Email Protection, which didn't help. So I uninstalled Thunderbird and reinstalled it.

But now its saying it cannot login to the outlook server when I try to add an email account. I know the information is correct, all I can guess is that Norton is blocking it somehow?

Any idea on how I can fix this?

The error message is always "pop3.server3.2: Got an error name=pop3PasswordFailed, the server said: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. 2 Pop3Client.sys.mjs:1576:18".I did not change passwords. In fact, I can go on internet to outlook.com email logon web page and access the email account perfectly, even though it fails everytime with Thunderbird. (it still is same password, never changed). Dear community, I have recently updated my Thinkpad from kubuntu 22.04 to 24.04, which included an update of thunderbird to version 128.1.0esr (and a switch to a snap package).

However, when I type into the quick filter bar, (i) the whole thunderbird GUI freezes until the filter was applied to my several thousand emails, (ii) which also seems to take much longer than before. Before the update, the filter took maybe ~0.5 seconds or less, it now takes ~4 seconds. A lot for just a few thousand emails. Btw, the same happens if I empty the quick filter field. Just that it seems to take now even longer until it shows all of my emails.

I don't know if anyone can help. I feel more this could be something for a bug report?

Thanks a lot in advance, Matthias

I am using Thunderbird 115.15.0 (64-bit) on openSUSE Thundebird. This is the KDE version. I have verified that it fails with both the Wayland and X11 versions.

Why I try to print an email, the Print Dialog appears with the circular animation and the message "Preparing Preview." It then hangs in a loop. The only way to stop it is to use the System Monitor to Kill Thunderbird.

This is a serious problem as there are emails that need to be printed and there is no convenient way to print them otherwise.

I just started having issues with Thunderbird. When I open it I'm getting the error: Login to server imap-mail.outlook.com with username has failed. I've tried entering my password, no luck. Changed my password and can open my hotmail account in outlook so I know the new password is right, but still no luck in Thunderbird. After too many Retry attempts I get an error in the bottom corner that says something like: the server is offline or may be disconnected (disappears too quick to catch it).

Thoughts on how to resolve?

Thanks, Kevin
