If I have multiple tabs in a window I can drag 1 down so that it opens in a seperate window and is no longer part of it original group. Can I do this with multiple tabs. ie I have 5 tabs in a window can I arrange to have 2 windows 1 with 3 tabs the othe with 2.

Yes, but only one at a time. Or, take the one you want to be alone, and move it to a new window.

This does not resolve the issue, I think. I have a number of tabs in a window I want to split them so that some are in one window and some in another. I do not want individual tabs in individual windows. The example is 2 tabs in one with 3 tabs in the other (needless to say the actual issue is 10-15 in one with 5-10 in the other.

You can move any tab from one window to another, or a new window.
