You need to uninstall BearShare from your computer. Use the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Windows Control Panel.

Next, restart Firefox and check for any remnants of BearShare in your add-ons:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions

With BearShare gone, you should be able to choose a new homepage and not have it change back.

Finally, BearShare may change your address bar search from Google to itself. If you find that to be the case, this thread should help: How do I get FF4 to use Google's I'm feeling lucky feature? | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help.

Does that cure it?
