Sounds more like you are in Windows Safe Mode; "Safe Mode" in all 4 corners of the monitor? If so, you will need to restart your computer to get out of Windows Safe Mode.

If you truly are in Firefox Safe Mode, see Firefox is stuck in Safe Mode

  • Click the Desktop icon, not the "Recently used Applications" list the first time after exiting Firefox when in Safe Mode
  • Be sure your desktop icon Properties have not been changed to append -safe-mode to the end of the "Target" field

Make sure that you do not have the -safe-mode switch appended to the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut.

Also make sure that you do not press the Shift key or use a keyboard shortcut with only the Shift key as a modifier while starting Firefox.
